cosmic desert

There is something so otherworldly about the desert. This painting is inspired specifically by the Sonoran Desert and Joshua Tree. The night hits different in the desert landscape with its deep purples and blues. The clear skies that allow for us to see the stars which brings about a feeling of ancestral remembrance. So much has been expressed to us through the traveling of these planetary bodies that so many us would regularly observe in the not so distant past. When watching the movements of above it's hard not to stand in awe at all of the miraculous activity "up there." Along with that open desert night sky, there are the beautiful desert flowers such as datara and all sorts of fuzzy cactus friends, ocotillo, and all sorts of magical windswept expressions. This expression is a celebration of the inspiring and expansive quality of being in the desert. A call to the wonder of the Ancient Ones, their intensely connected way of life, and how we can invite their wisdom into our lives through paying attention to the signs all around us.
